The glass axe holds out, but Patrick isn't... too much swinging and some misses along the way make his shoulder blow out (from the bite a few pages back). Able to fend off half of the intended group, Pat is wearing thin on energy, patience, and ready to be knocked out by the clever bats. By now at this point they're toying with their prey; no flying around this time like before-- let the man swing 'til he can't swing no more...
